How to Use Sex Toys With a Partner
There’s one very important thing to understand when considering mixing sex toys and sex partners: One partner’s desire to use toys should not be taken as a reflection of the other partner’s sexual prowess. A good vibrator can give you an orgasm, but it doesn’t make up for bad chemistry between partners. Great chemistry can result in amazing sex, but sometimes it’s just really fun to add a little something else to the mix. It’s not about the sex not being good – it’s about making sex even better.
So now, if you’re interested in adding toys to your already sizzlin’ relationship, let’s talk about some good picks!
Personally, I’m a fan of clitoral vibrators because there’s such a huge variety available that, if you have a clitoris, there is bound to be something out there that you will like. But be careful! Some materials are highly porous and others are made with some nasty toxic compounds. When in doubt, go with hard plastic (often a solid inexpensive option, but tends to be loud) or silicone (usually more expensive, but can last a lifetime).
Classic Sex Toys
The classic silver bullet is available at every adult store ever, anywhere, and is usually made of hard, body-safe plastic. This is a great option for sex toy newbies because it’s small, powerful, safe, and cheap. Use it externally only and you will have a blast. Generally, a good way to tell how powerful a toy will be is by checking out the material and the battery specifications. A toy that takes a single AAA battery is not likely to pack a punch.
On the other hand, my favorite wand vibrator (the Vibratex Mystic Wand) takes a whopping four AA batteries – and you can tell! Rechargables can vary, but my two top picks in that department are the Lelo Mia 2 and my personal holy grail – the We-Vibe Touch. If you’re going to be sharing your clitoral toy with a partner, it’s even more important to pick something non-porous that can be sterilized (the Mia 2, Touch, and Mystic Wand all fit the bill).
More than vibrators
Sex toys aren’t limited to people with vaginas, of course; cock rings and masturbator sleeves can be really fun options, too. They come in almost as many varieties as clitoral vibrators, and they’re quite safe to use. A sturdy, tight ring like the Tantus Silicone Super Soft C-Ring will keep blood flow in the erection. Prolonging it and in some cases actually hardening the penis further. Vibrating cock rings can be hit or miss, but I’ve always heard wonderful things about Screaming O rings, which use very high quality removable bullets. If you want to invest in something that will last and promises some more intense vibrations, check out Lelo’s cock rings, Bo and Tor.
When considering sleeves, it’s important to remember that a lot of them just aren’t meant to last for more than a few uses. Tenga’s eggs and their other masturbators are definitely the cream of the crop, and they won’t break the bank either. If you’re looking for something that will last with a little TLC. Check out Fleshlight for something realistic and human, or Bad Dragon for silicone fantasy sleeves.
One last thing: Lube! For some reason, there exists the myth that if a person needs lube, they’re not turned on. WRONG. Anyone taking hormonal contraception or antihistamines might have slightly lessened natural lubrication production. There are certainly other potential causes that have nothing to do with the partner’s willingness. Many toys are just easier to use with a little lube, particularly masturbator sleeves or matte silicone toys with a lot of drag. My favorite lube is Sliquid Sassy, because it’s completely body-safe (no glycerin, no parabens), vegan, and it really lasts. For the most versatile lube, look for something water based and glycerin free.
Go forth and vibe on.
10 Sex Toys for St Patrick’s Day
In the USA, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated with parades and feasts of corned beef and cabbage, and often with extensive drinking (aka “drowning the shamrock”). To the Irish in Ireland, however, the day is first a feast and holy day, celebrated with a week-long tradition of festivities. Mass on St. Patrick’s Day is the norm and it’s not uncommon to stop by the pub for a pint afterward. However, if you’re looking for some naughty fun after you’ve had your fill of the traditional festivities, we’ve come up with a list of St. Patrick’s Day themed sex toys for you to enjoy solo or with a buddy.

6 New State of The Art Sex Toys to Add to Your Collection
Sex toys have come a long, long way.
One of the greatest things about the modern sex toy industry is its emphasis on innovative and body-safe products. You can find silicone in almost any shape, vibrating or not, for your penis, vagina, or bum. Some of the most exciting toys are the ones that combine health with radical advancement in pleasure.
In 2013, Minna Life came out with the Minna Limon, an adorable lemon-shaped external vibrator that’s capable of recording vibration patterns created by squeezing an air chamber. Its round little body feels a little bit like a stress ball, but it’s a whole lot more relaxing to use! If you like to listen to music while you mess around? It’s actually possible to create a vibration pattern mimicking your favorite beat.
Bonus: If you’re interested in the air chamber technology but not too keen on a vibe you can only use externally. Minna also makes a wonderful g-spot vibe called the Minna Ola.
Couples Toys –
Tenga, a company known for their innovative male masturbators, has just released a line of five couples vibes called Vi-Bo. Each vibe is made up of one or two vibrating orbs that are placed into silicone casing in various shapes, including a finger vibe, cock ring, hand vibe, and more. I’m really excited about this line because every shape looks extremely versatile.
A few companies are now making silicone toys in multiple density layers, which achieve a more realistic effect. If you’re a fan of Super Skin or jelly toys but hate how porous and potentially chock-full of phthalates. You would love a toy from either Tantus’ O2 line or Vixen Creations VixSkin line. I’m particularly partial to the Vixen Mustang.
However, those who crave girth will love the Tantus Cush. With proper care – wash with a toy cleaner or fragrance-free dish soap and occasionally boil or wipe down with 10% bleach/90% water – a silicone toy can last a lifetime.
Finally, if you’re looking for a restraint upgrade, you’re in luck! Though Sportsheets isn’t a new company, their approach to bondage is innovative and makes restraint play highly accessible and safe for the average person. Their cuffs are made of neoprene and super strong Velcro, making them strong, comfortable, and safe. They’re a huge step up from metal cuffs!
7 Gift Ideas For The Guy You’re Sleeping With
Although most people don’t purchase big ticket items for the person they’re casually sleeping with. It’s still fun to do something nice for the person who has been giving you lots of orgasms as of late. So, in the spirit of giving (and receiving!) here are a few sexy “gifts” that you can both enjoy –
A sex toy for couples
You don’t have to be in a serious committed relationship to enjoy some of the amazing sex toys out there that are designed to be used by couples. We’re a big fan of toys like the We-Vibe 4. It allows the woman to experience toe curling clitoral vibrations while also receiving penetration from her partner. This toy can also be enjoyed solo, of course 🙂
A private strip-tease
Who said you had to spend money to have fun? Channel your inner Demi Moore and give your partner a strip-tease that they’ll never forget. Dive them nuts by forcing them to stay in their chair until the song ends. This is the perfect for anyone who enjoys teasing their partner!
A Luxury Condom Sampler
Keep things safe & sexy by surprising your lover with a new and fun assortment of condoms and lubes. From the “Bottoms Up” Anal Sex Kit to the “Her Pleasure” Lube Sampler. Lucky Bloke have tons of amazing condom and lube gifts that are sure to please even the most choosy lover. Stick one in their stocking & yours.
What man doesn’t enjoy receiving a necktie as a gift? However, surprise him when you let him know that it isn’t for his neck, but for tying your hands to the headboard.
Take a sex workshop together
Not sure what to get that sexy someone? Why not sign yourselves up for a sex workshop & learn a few new things this New Year?! Adult stores like NYC’s Babeland offer lots of workshops where you can learn about everything from orgasms to how to give a better blow-job. (photo credit: timeout.com)
When in doubt, there is always red lingerie! No doubt your lover will get as excited as a kid on Christmas morning when he sees you saunter into the bedroom looking like the hot sex kitten that you are. Plus, it’s yours to keep & use again!
A vibrating ring for him
If you want to give him something he can wear, why not invest in a vibrating penis ring?! They’re relatively inexpensive but boy oh boy, do they ever feel good (for both of you!) This is definitely the kind of gift that keeps giving and giving and giving.
The Best Small Vibrators
Clitoral vibrators are probably my favorite kinds of toys. It’s simple: Only about 25% of women (or people with vaginas) consistently orgasm from penetrative sex alone. When you add in clitoral stimulation, that number rises considerably. Knowing how great orgasms are for you. From health benefits to mood benefits to being just plain fun. Don’t we all deserve more of them? These are some of my absolute favorite clitoral vibrators.
Lovehoney Flash 7 Function Rechargeable Clitoral Vibrator
It’s a bit of a mouthful, but this vibrator delivers. Affordable, especially when you factor in that you’ll never need to pay for batteries. Reasonably quiet, surprisingly strong, and made of body-safe silicone.
Lelo Mia 2
While similar to the Lovehoney Flash above, the Lelo Mia 2 is stronger with more rumbly vibrations. It’s also whisper quiet (seriously), rechargeable by USB, and completely waterproof, making it extremely easy to clean. Plus, like all Lelo toys, it’s backed by a one year warranty. It packs a lot of punch and is one of the most discreet vibrators I’ve ever seen.
Vibratex Mystic Wand
If you like wand vibrators but hate the idea of being tethered to a wall socket, this is the wand for you. It takes 4 AA batteries and nearly rivals the famous Hitachi wand for power. But, has 6 functions The head is made of body-safe silicone and the handle is a reasonable size, easy for even small hands to grasp. You get both a super powerful clitoral vibrator and a massager suitable for sore necks and shoulders. This one is a great multi-tasker.
We-Vibe Touch and Tango
We-Vibe has just released its brand new revamp of both the Touch and Tango models, which were already top selling toys. Both have super strong, rumbly motors, and the Tango is widely considered to be the creme de la creme of hard bullet vibrators. They’re rechargeable, fully waterproof, and made of body-safe materials. Touch is encased in soft, matte silicone, is a bit bigger, and can be used either pinpoint or along its broader surface. The Tango is made of hard ABS plastic with a slanted tip similar to that of a lipstick. If you’re looking for something small, ultra powerful, quiet, and with a bit of a luxury factor, definitely pick up one of these two.
Don’t Forget the Lube
So, what else will you need with your new toy? I would recommend picking up some water based lube (I like Sliquid) and either a specially formulated toy cleaner or an unscented antibacterial soap. Every vibrator listed here is non-porous and easy to clean, because anything that isn’t is more trouble than it’s worth.
How to Use Sex Toys During Casual Sex
With the recent popularity of 50 Shades of Grey, people have become more open to and curious about experimenting with sex toys in the bedroom. If you think sex toys are just for solo play or people in long term relationships that are looking to spice things up, think again. Here are a few tips on how to use sex toys when you’re dating casually.
Use a vibrator during intercourse
A lot of women find it difficult to orgasm during sex from penetration alone. A small sized clitoral or “bullet” vibrator is a great way to add some extra stimulation and help take your bedroom play to the next level. Even if orgasming isn’t an issue, using a vibrator on the clit when she’s on top or in doggystyle position can make the experience truly explosive for both of you.
Give each other a massage
A sensual massage is a great way to help you and your partner relax. Not to mention it makes for great foreplay! What most people forget is that many vibrators are also great for massage. Turn on the vibrator on and run it over each other’s erogenous zones – nipples, inner thighs. Wherever your sexy heart desires! Slowly take the vibrations south and watch your partner squirm with pleasure. This is a great way to tease and please your partner before the main event.
Let them watch
Depending on the level of comfort you have, allowing your partner to watch you pleasure yourself can be a huge turn on – especially when your partner is only allowed to look, not touch. When you do eventually touch, it’s likely you won’t be able to keep your hands off each other.
As with anything you do sexually, it’s crucial that you get consent from the person you’re sleeping with. Before you whip out the sex toys and/or handcuffs, make sure that your partner is comfortable knows what’s happening and consents to it.
Keep things clean
In order to prevent the spread of disease and bacteria, it’s important to keep your sex toys clean. Especially if you’re using them with multiple partners. To keep yourself and your partners safe, it’s recommended by medical practitioners that you clean your sex toys thoroughly after each use. There are a number of different ways to clean your toys. The method you choose is often determined by what materials your toy is made out of and how you use it. One of the easiest ways to clean your toys is to use an antibacterial toy cleaner like Pjur Med spray or wipes that you can use before and after every use. Pay extra attention to toys made of rubber or jelly materials, as they are porous and can easily trap bacteria. It’s recommended you use a condom with these toys and any penetrative toys that you’re sharing with different partners.
Sex & Technology : How Science is Helping Us Get Laid
Welcome to Sex and Technology Month at No Strings! From prehistoric cave drawings to today’s mobile apps designed to help singles connect. There’s no doubt that as technology has evolved. The ease and convenience in which we’re able to hook-up and have sex (whether that’s with a partner or with ourselves) has definitely increased. For the rest of February we’ll be taking a look at the connection between Sex and Technology. We’ll be sharing with you some of the latest technological advances in the sexuality realm. Providing you tips on how to best use tech to your advantage while dating and examining whether all of this technology is helping us or hurting our sex lives.
Whether we like it or not, technology has become an intrinsic part of our love lives. Before we get going, here are a few fun facts about sex and tech.
Facebook of Sex?
Shape and Men’s Fitness magazine found that 58% of men that they surveyed said that they feel flirting over Facebook. Texts and chat help them get women in bed sooner. Which means, if you’re hoping to have casual sex don’t be shy about sending that flirtatious text or message.
80% of women surveyed said that relationships lead to sex sooner. Saying, it’s now easier to stay connected through technology (in other words, if you’re hoping to connect with someone, use that technology to your advantage!)
Sex Toys for Men: Sleeve Edition
Usually, when I write about sex toys, I focus on vibrators and dildos, the two domains with which I’m most familiar. However, masturbator sleeves are a growing niche that’s getting a lot more attention lately. Some companies are revolutionizing the way the world jerks off.
You’ve probably heard of Fleshlight, but did you know that you can customize your own? On the Fleshlight website, you can choose the interior texture, case type and color, orifice, or even choose from a number of famous performer’s molded bits. Fleshlight also offers the Flight, which is smaller and non-anatomical, if you want something a little more discreet. I’ve not been able to try one myself, but I’ve heard on good authority that Fleshlight feels pretty darn realistic.
Tenga Eggs –
I’ve written about Tenga a few times here, but they’re always worth mentioning when it comes to masturbators. From single use Eggs and Cups made of soft, stretchy elastomer, to the reusable futuristic Flip and artistic 3D, Tenga is making masturbators that are nothing like you’ve ever seen or felt before. All of Tenga’s products are discreet and non-anatomical, so they have a particularly classy look and feel.
Masturbator Sleeves –
If you’re a fantasy fiend, you might want to check out Bad Dragon’s selection of masturbator sleeves. They’re some of the only sleeves made of 100% pure silicone, and their unique designs definitely can’t be matched. All of them are soft and plushy, and each one can be custom made in the colors and patterns of your choice.
High Tech, Real-Time Masturbation Tools –
Finally, taking a giant technological step forward, there’s the SVir by Kiiroo, a new company located in Amsterdam that’s definitely worth getting excited about. Their products are based on the field of teledildonics, letting partners feel each other in real time. SVir’s internal sleeve is ringed with sensors which are activated by corresponding rings on an insertable device (called OPue) or by another SVir in use. Both toys will connect to a network allowing users to control each other’s devices, or they can be used offline. Originally, SVir and OPue were designed with couples in mind, and they’re sure to be amazing for that purpose. In a long-distance relationship, SVir and OPue would make it possible to have a whole new dimension of virtual sex. But you wouldn’t have to be part of a couple to use SVir.
Web Cam Reality
Imagine logging on to see your favorite webcam performer and being able to actually feel their performance. In the future, it would be exciting to see Kiiroo expand on these types of toys to provide more options for play, like a vibrator controlled by a masturbator, and the option to pair vibrator with vibrator.
The Future Is All About Robot Sex
It’s an age-old question: Would you have sex with a robot?
Tenga, one of the world’s leading sex toy manufacturers and a company known for innovation, has been working on a new kind of sex toy experience. They’ve combined cutting edge video game technology with their already awesome masturbation sleeves. Creating a sexual virtual reality known as the Oculus Rift.
Robot Sex, for Real?
Right now, dual density silicone is considered the most realistic material for a toy; brands like Tantus and Vixen Creations do it particularly well. However realistic a dildo or masturbation sleeve might feel, though, there’s always a disconnect. It can feel absolutely amazing, but it’s still not sex with another person. If you’re looking for intimacy or near-reality, it’s simply missing something.
For this reason, Tenga combined virtual reality (VR) goggles, the extremely advanced Novint Falcon game controller, and one of their own sleeves. The participant is able to hold onto the Falcon, to which the sleeve is attached, and thrust. Once the VR goggles are in place over the participants head, they are immersed in a world where they’re getting down with a virtual partner. The Falcon was chosen because it responds to the player’s touch in a way that something like a Fleshlight mount cannot.
What About Dating Sites?
But, could this effectively kill dating sites? Would no one search for a flesh-and-blood partner anymore? Not likely. First of all, any new technology of this caliber is extremely expensive. It’s likely that some extremely wealthy people might opt for a little virtual ass on the side. But casual dating and serious partner searching among the majority of the population is safe. More likely, there might be virtual brothels of sorts, where a few machines are located in private rooms and you pay for time with the AI as well as a new sleeve. Also, right now, Tenga’s technology is only being used with masturbation sleeves. This means that you need to either have a penis or enjoy using a strap-on in order to get the most enjoyment out of it.
According to coverage from Motherboard. The options for virtual partners are limited right now, but that doesn’t mean that a whole host of virtual sex partners isn’t on the horizon. Imagine, though, what it would be like if there were suitable virtual reality toys for everyone. For toy buffs and those unlucky in love, it’s a tantalizing thought.
Would You Use It? A Bra that Makes Your Sex Decisions For You
An example of this is True Love Test Bra by the Japanese lingerie company Ravijour which is designed to only open “when a woman finds true love.” If you’re cringing right now you’re not the only one. Like a chastity belt for the digital age, the bra remains firmly locked shut most of the time, to defend its wearer from the hordes of creepy guys attempting to weasel their way in. However, as soon as Mr. Right arrives, it magically bursts open – surprise! Err, or something.
When we fall in love, “we experience an instant boost in excitement,” says the company’s in-house Human Sexuality Specialist in the promotional video. “That feeling is unlike any other excitement we encounter in life.”
A sensor built into the bra detects the wearer’s heart rate and sends it to a special smartphone app for analysis, via Bluetooth. The app then calculates the “True Love Rate” based on changes in the heart rate over time. When this rate exceeds a certain value – presto chango! – the hook at the front of the bra opens.
“Until now, the bra was a just piece of clothing to remove,” says the smart-bra’s creator, “but now it is an instrument to test for true love … destined to become a friend of women around the world.”
A friend of women? Think again. Although I’m all for people finding true love (if that’s what they are looking for) several major issues pop out (no pun intended) while watching the promotional video for this product.
It reinforces the misconception that you have to be in love to have meaningful, pleasurable sex…especially if you’re a woman.
Yes, it’s great having sex with someone you love. However, I think most of us know that you can have really amazing sex with someone even if you’re not in love with them. It’s Ok to have sex someone that you’re just ridiculously attracted to and have great chemistry with. I feel like this device just plays into the age old double standard that men can have sex without getting emotionally involved, whereas women can’t – which, as we know isn’t true. It’s OK to embrace your sexuality and have sex with the partner of your choice – regardless of what a robot bra says!
Insulting to women
Of course, I’m all about protecting myself and other women from creepy dudes, however I already have an “app” that does that: it’s called common sense and good judgement. I don’t need a bra to tell me when and with who I should have sex with. I can make those kinds of decisions on my own – we all can. To imply that women need a piece technology in order to make smart choices when it comes to their sex lives is just well, insulting.
The possibility of malfunction is huge
Yes, the app monitors your heart rate and yes, science confirms that our heart rate quickens when we’re in love. However, you know when our heart rate also increases?! When we’re super attracted to someone, when we go for a great run, when we’re nervous. I don’t really understand or trust how the bra is able to tell the difference. If you got a case of the nerves during a boardroom Powerpoint presentation, would the bra suddenly pop open and hit your boss in the eye? What about while you were running for the bus or watching a particularly nail biting episode of Homeland? The opportunities for awkwardness are endless.
