Law Enforcement Policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
This policy explains how No Strings Dating responds to requests for information from police, prosecutors, regulators and other public authorities. No Strings Dating is operated by Digital Dudes Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 07851009. Our registered office is 5 The Square, Bagshot, Surrey, GU19 5AX, United Kingdom.
This policy forms part of our approach to safety, set out in our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy and Child Safety Standards.
1. How to contact us
Send requests by email to support@nostringsdating.net, or through our Contact page using the "Law Enforcement / Legal Matter" topic. Please put "Law Enforcement Request" in the subject line. We do not have a telephone line. We accept requests in English.
Members of the public should not use this route. To report a member or a crime, see our Contact page and choose "Reporting Misuse or illegal behaviour", or contact your local police.
2. What a request must include
Each request should include:
- the name of the requesting authority and the officer's name, rank, badge or warrant number;
- an official email address and a postal address for the authority;
- the legal basis for the request and a copy of any order, warrant or other legal process;
- the profile name, account email address or other identifiers of the account concerned;
- the specific information sought and the time period it covers;
- a short description of the investigation, where you can give one;
- whether the member must not be told about the request, and the legal basis for that.
Requests that are too broad or unclear may be returned with questions before we act on them.
3. Verification
We check that each request comes from a genuine authority before we disclose anything. We may contact the authority through its published details to confirm the request. We do not respond to requests sent from personal or free email accounts.
4. Legal process required
We disclose member information only where the law allows or requires it. In most cases we need valid legal process that applies to us in England and Wales, such as a court order or another binding legal request.
Authorities outside the United Kingdom should normally use a mutual legal assistance request or another recognised international process. We may respond directly to a foreign authority where UK law allows it.
5. What we can disclose
Member profiles, photos and messages are held by our network provider, DatingAPI. We hold some account and billing records ourselves. Depending on the request and the law, we may be able to provide:
- basic account details, such as profile name, email address and the date the account was created;
- sign-in records, such as dates, times and IP addresses;
- subscription and payment records;
- profile content, photos and messages, where held.
Requests for data held by DatingAPI may need to be passed to it, or made to it directly. We will tell you if this is the case. We only disclose information that is necessary and proportionate to the request.
6. Emergency requests
If there is a real risk of death or serious physical harm to any person, we may disclose information without legal process. Send an emergency request to support@nostringsdating.net with "EMERGENCY" in the subject line. Describe the emergency, the person at risk and why the information is needed straight away. We may later ask for legal process to support the disclosure.
7. Preservation requests
We will preserve the records of a named account for 90 days on receipt of a valid preservation request, while you obtain legal process. Where the data is held by DatingAPI, we will pass the preservation request to it.
8. Proactive reporting
We may report suspected crimes to the authorities without being asked, where the law allows it.
Where we find suspected child sexual abuse material or child sexual exploitation, we remove it, preserve the evidence, close the account and report it:
- in the United Kingdom, to the National Crime Agency (via CEOP) and the Internet Watch Foundation;
- for members in the United States, to NCMEC's CyberTipline;
- for members in Canada, to the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (Cybertip.ca) and the police;
- for members in Australia, to the eSafety Commissioner and the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation;
- for members in New Zealand, to the Department of Internal Affairs;
- for members in Ireland, to Hotline.ie and An Garda Síochána.
We also report terrorism content, credible threats to life and other serious crimes to the relevant authority.
9. Telling the member
Our usual practice is to tell a member when we receive a request about their account, so that they can seek legal advice. We do not tell the member where the law stops us, where a court order forbids it, or where telling them could put someone at risk in an emergency. If you do not want us to tell the member, please say so in your request and give the legal basis.
10. Action on the account
A request does not by itself lead us to close an account. We may still take action under our Terms of Use or Acceptable Use Policy if we find the account has broken our rules. If closing an account could harm an investigation, tell us and we will consider that before we act.
11. Records
We keep a record of every request we receive, how we checked it, and what we disclosed. We keep these records securely and only for as long as we need them.
12. Costs
We do not normally charge for responding to law enforcement requests. We may ask for our reasonable costs where a request is unusually large or complex, and the law allows it.
13. Civil requests
We do not disclose member information in private civil matters, such as divorce or other disputes between individuals, without a valid court order that applies to us. Members can ask for a copy of their own data under our Privacy Policy.
