Privacy Policy

Effective date: 23 October 2026
Last updated: 3 November 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information No Strings Dating collects, why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. Please read it before you join. If anything is unclear, contact us at support@nostringsdating.net.

1. Who We Are

No Strings Dating is run by Digital Dudes Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). We are the controller of your personal information, together with our network provider for the shared network (see Section 6).

Our registered office is:
Digital Dudes Ltd
5 The Square
Bagshot
Surrey
GU19 5AX
United Kingdom

Digital Dudes Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 07851009. Our VAT number is GB126233050. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZB725355.

We are appointing a representative in the European Union under the GDPR and the Digital Services Act. Their name and contact details will be added here shortly. Until then, members and authorities in the EU can contact us directly at support@nostringsdating.net, in English.

2. How to Contact Us About Privacy

For any privacy question or request, email support@nostringsdating.net. You can also write to us at the address in Section 1.

We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer. Our privacy officer handles privacy questions and requests, including for the purposes of Quebec and New Zealand privacy law. You can reach our privacy officer at support@nostringsdating.net.

3. The Information We Collect

Information you give us.

  • Account details: your email address, username and password.
  • Profile details: your gender, age, location (such as your town or city), photos, what you write about yourself, who you are looking for, and your sexual orientation and preferences, including what you are "up for".
  • Your activity with other members: messages, likes, winks and profile views.
  • Safety check-ins: if you use one, the details you enter about your meeting and the friend you tell.
  • Messages to our support team, and reports you make about other members.

Information from your age check and identity verification. See Section 5.

Information about payments. A record of what you bought, when, the amount, and a reference from PayPal or Apple. We never see or store your full card details.

Information collected automatically. Your IP address, your browser and device type, and the pages you use. Cloudflare receives this when you visit, to run and protect the site. With your consent only, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site. See our Cookie Policy.

4. Sensitive Information

Some of what you tell us is special category data under data protection law. This includes your sexual orientation, your sexual preferences, what you are "up for", and the face data used in the age check (Section 5).

We use your sexual orientation and preferences only to show your profile to other members and to find you matches. We ask for your explicit consent to this with a separate tick box when you join. You can withdraw that consent by deleting your account in Settings. We cannot run your profile on a dating service without this information, so withdrawing consent means closing your account.

Please think carefully about what you share. Other members can see your profile, and anything you put in it or send in a message.

5. Age Checks, Identity Verification and Face Data

Our Service uses two checks, both carried out by Didit, an independent identity verification provider, and not by us: an age check for every member, and identity verification.

The age check. Every member takes a short age check before they can use the Service: new members when they join, and members who joined earlier the next time they sign in. On Didit's own page, you record a short video selfie using your device's camera. Didit uses it to confirm that a real person is present, rather than a photograph, a screen or a mask, and to estimate your age from your face (facial age estimation). No identity document is needed, and the check is free. If the estimate shows you are clearly over our minimum age, you pass. If you appear to be under 25, you are asked to complete identity verification instead. We never receive, show or keep your estimated age. We receive only whether you passed or need to verify your identity.

Our network provider keeps one still image taken from the selfie, so that moderators can check accounts. It is not shown to other members or used for anything else.

Identity verification. Identity verification is required where the age check could not confirm your age, or where we have other reasons to check (for example, registering through a VPN). You can also choose it to show a "Verified" badge on your profile. It costs £1.99 (see ID Verification). On Didit's page, you photograph a government-issued identity document, such as a passport, driving licence or national ID card, and take a live selfie. Didit performs a "liveness" check and compares your selfie with the photograph on your document to confirm they show the same person. This involves your facial image and facial measurements taken from it.

How your images are handled. Your selfie video and any identity document are captured on Didit's page and sent directly from your device to Didit. Apart from the single still image described above, they do not pass through our website, our app or our servers. We never receive, process or store your facial images, facial scans, facial geometry or any biometric template made from them. Our app does not use Face ID or any other biometric feature of your device. Didit deletes your facial images, and any identity document, one month after the check.

What we receive. To begin a check, we send Didit only a reference to your member account. When identity verification finishes, we receive the outcome, a reference number, and the details recorded for you during verification, such as your date of birth, name, gender and country. We use your date of birth only to confirm that you are old enough to join (21 or over for new members), and we do not keep it. We use your country to confirm that we can offer the Service where you are. If you have not already given us your name or gender, we save them to your profile. The only other details we keep are your check results, the reference number and your country.

How we use the results. We use the results to confirm that you meet our minimum age, to activate your account where a check is needed first, and to show a "Verified" badge on your profile. On some sites, completing identity verification also gives you a period of free upgraded membership. We do not use these checks for advertising, for profiling, to match you with other members, or to train any facial recognition or machine learning system of our own.

Automated decisions. The age check is automated: Didit's estimate decides whether you pass straight away or need identity verification. It never refuses you on its own. If the estimate is wrong, identity verification gives you another way to show your age, and you can contact us if you think a check has gone wrong.

Our lawful basis. We carry out age checks to keep under-age people off the Service, which is a legal obligation and in our legitimate interests. Because the checks use your face data, we also ask for your explicit consent before the check starts.

Keeping and deleting this data. We keep your check results, the reference number and your country while your account is open, and may keep them after it closes to prevent fraud and meet legal obligations (see Section 10). You can ask us to delete your verification record, or the still image kept for moderation, by contacting us. You can ask Didit to delete the data they hold by using the contact details in their privacy policy.

6. The Shared Network

No Strings Dating is part of a network of dating sites that share a common member database (see Shared Network and Section 6 of the Terms of Use). The member database, including profiles, photos and messages, is held by DatingAPI, our network and technology provider. DatingAPI also shows profiles on its partner network of dating sites, so members who joined a partner site can see your profile and message you.

DatingAPI acts as a joint controller with us for the shared network: holding the member database, showing profiles across partner sites, and moderating them. We are your main point of contact. You can send any request about your information to us at support@nostringsdating.net, and we will work with DatingAPI to deal with it.

7. How We Use Your Information and Why

Data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of your information. These are ours.

To provide the Service you signed up for (contract).

  • To create and run your account and profile.
  • To show your profile to other members, here and across the shared network, and to find you matches.
  • To let you message and interact with other members.
  • To take payments and manage your membership.
  • To send service emails, such as receipts and renewal reminders.
  • To provide customer support.

For our legitimate interests, where these are not outweighed by your rights:

  • To keep the Service and our members safe, including moderating photos and profiles, and handling reports.
  • To prevent fraud, scams, spam and misuse, and to enforce our Terms of Use.
  • To keep the site secure and working, and to fix problems.
  • To defend legal claims.

With your consent:

  • To use your sexual orientation and preferences to show your profile and find matches (Section 4).
  • To use face data in the age check and identity verification (Section 5).
  • To use analytics and marketing cookies (see our Cookie Policy).
  • To send you marketing emails (Section 11).

You can withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To meet legal obligations:

  • To check that members are old enough to use the Service.
  • To keep financial records required by UK tax law.
  • To respond to lawful requests from the police, courts and regulators, and to report child sexual abuse material.

Automated moderation. Photos are checked automatically by Sightengine, a moderation service used by our network provider, and by our network provider's moderators. If an automated check flags a photo, the moderators can review it, and you can contact us if you think a decision is wrong.

8. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the following, and only as much as each needs:

  • Other members of No Strings Dating and the shared network, who see your profile and the messages you send them.
  • DatingAPI, our network and technology provider, which holds the member database and runs the shared network (Section 6).
  • Didit, for age checks and identity verification (Section 5).
  • PayPal, for payments on our website. PayPal handles your card details. We never see them.
  • Apple, for purchases made in our iPhone app. Apple handles these payments under its own terms.
  • Google Analytics, to measure how the site is used, only after you accept analytics cookies.
  • Google reCAPTCHA, which checks sign-up, sign-in and password reset forms for bots.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts the site and protects it from attacks.
  • Neon, which hosts our own database.
  • Sightengine, used by our network provider for automated photo moderation.

These providers may use your information only to provide their service, except where they act on their own account under their own privacy policies (such as PayPal, Apple and Didit).

We may also share information:

  • With the police, courts, regulators or your bank, where the law requires it or to help investigate fraud on your account.
  • To report child sexual abuse or to protect someone from serious harm.
  • With a buyer, if our business or the Service is sold. They would have to treat your information in line with this policy.

9. Transfers Outside the UK and EEA

Some of our providers, such as Google and Cloudflare, process information in the United States or other countries outside the UK and the European Economic Area. When information leaves the UK or the EEA, we make sure it stays protected in one of these ways:

  • The country has been recognised as giving adequate protection (an adequacy decision or UK adequacy regulations).
  • The provider has signed the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

You can ask us for more detail about these safeguards at support@nostringsdating.net.

10. How Long We Keep Your Information

  • Your account and profile: while your account is open.
  • When you delete your account: your profile is removed. We keep limited records, such as your account reference and check results, where we need them to prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.
  • Payment records: 6 years, as required by UK tax law.
  • Facial images and identity documents: Didit deletes them one month after the check (Section 5).
  • Cookies: as listed in our Cookie Policy.

To delete your account, go to Settings, or see Delete Account.

11. Emails We Send

We send you marketing emails only if you tick the box to receive them when you join, or turn them on later in Settings. The box is never ticked for you.

Service emails go to every member. These include receipts, a reminder 48 hours before a membership renews, and safety notices.

You can stop marketing emails at any time in Settings, or by clicking "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email. You can also choose which message notifications you get in Settings.

12. Payments and Your Account Security

If your payment details change, or you think someone else has used your account or password, contact us straight away at support@nostringsdating.net or through Contact Us. If a card is lost or stolen, or fraud is reported, we will help investigations by your bank or the police. This may include sharing details about your account.

13. How We Protect Your Information

We use security measures to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. These include encrypted connections and sign-in cookies that page scripts cannot read. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that your information will always be safe. Please use a strong password and do not share it.

14. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you, and get a copy.
  • Correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Delete your information.
  • Restrict how we use your information, or object to our use of it, including where we rely on legitimate interests.
  • Take your information with you in a common format (portability).
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it.
  • Ask for a person to review a decision made only by automated means.

You can change most of your details yourself in your profile and in Settings, and delete your account there. For anything else, email support@nostringsdating.net. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We reply within one month, or tell you if we need longer and why. Using your rights is free.

15. Extra Information for US Residents

Some US states give residents rights over their personal information. Depending on your state, these include the right to:

  • Know about and access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Delete it.
  • Correct it.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and of targeted advertising.

We do not sell your personal information. We use analytics and marketing cookies only if you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time (see our Cookie Policy). We use sensitive information, such as your sexual preferences, only to provide the Service.

To use these rights, email support@nostringsdating.net. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.

16. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first at support@nostringsdating.net so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator:

  • UK: the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
  • Ireland: the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
  • Canada: the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), and in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
  • Australia: the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
  • New Zealand: the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

If you live elsewhere in the European Economic Area, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

17. Age Limit

The Service is for adults only. New members must be 21 or over, and nobody under 18, or under the age of majority where it is higher, may use it. If we find that we hold information about someone under that age, we close the account and delete the information, except where we must keep it to report a crime.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. Where a change needs your consent, we will ask for it.
